Here at AutoPilot Managed WordPress Hosting, we aren’t picky about what theme you want to use. Whether you choose to use GeneratePress, (which is one of the premium licenses we include with your subscription), or something else is up to you. If you are working with one of the many entities of the Seventh-day Adventist Church who are looking to use WordPress for their website, you are most likely also going to need the ALPS theme. As AutoPilot is owned by a Seventh-day Adventist family, I am very pleased to announce that the ALPS WordPress theme is 100% tested and supported on our Australian managed WordPress hosting platform.
What is the ALPS theme?
ALPS is short for Adventist Living Pattern System. This is a theme developed by the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church to unite SDA entities and supporting ministries with a consistent visual image. You have probably seen this image around, it looks like this:
ALPS has been designed to simplify the process of building websites that align with the Adventist Identity Guideline System. You can read more about the guidelines on the official Seventh-day Adventist Church website here. In short, it is based around the “Creation Grid” (a flexible 7-column grid) combined with consistent fonts, colours and design elements.
In order to make it as easy as possible to build your Adventist website with the Adventist Identity Guideline System in mind, the ALPS development team for WordPress have built Gutenberg blocks to help implement content pages and build out each aspect of your design consistently. It really is a great tool to get your website up and running super fast.
What does this mean if you host your WordPress website with AutoPilot Hosting?
Our managed WordPress hosting includes theme and plugin installation and configuration to jumpstart your WordPress website building. So, when you host your SDA website with us we will get you up and running with the ALPS theme fully installed and ready to go. We also provide you with ongoing technical support, maintenance and updates to ensure your website keeps running smoothly and is always secure. All our WordPress installations are security-hardened and are monitored to detect any breaches. If something does happen, we’ll resolve it for you.
From there, if you want to take on the tasks of actually designing your website and adding all the content yourself, everything is ready for you! If you would prefer to work with a designer, you can choose your own and we can provide them with everything they need, or we can connect you with one of our Seventh-day Adventist design partners.
Regardless of which way you go, you can also choose to use any of our other included premium WordPress plugins as well, including a library of video tutorials integrated right into your WordPress dashboard to help bring your team up to speed on using your website.
Already using WordPress with ALPS?
If you already have a WordPress website built with ALPS, transferring your website over to our servers will give you access to our ongoing theme and plugin support both for ALPS and for any other plugins you may have installed. You also get ongoing maintenance of your WordPress website, including all updates, backups, security hardening and ongoing monitoring. Of course, if something does happen to your website, regardless of whether or not it’s a hack or a faulty plugin update, we’ll get it fixed up for you!
